Youth Collaborative, Inc. is a nonprofit youth serving organization dedicated to providing the intervention and support needed to assist gang involved youth between the ages of 13-20 in navigating the barriers that prevent them from living productive lives. Youth Collaborative was founded in 2020 to address the need for more intentional strategies to reduce Forsyth County's rate of juvenile gang involvement, which is significantly higher than the state average. Youth Collaborative works in close partnership with members of the Winston Salem community as well as with local and state agencies to deliver holistic youth centered programming aimed at reducing recidivism and promoting self-actualization for the youth who participate in programs. Ultimately, Youth Collaborative aims to create conditions in which all youth can be healthy and successful through the reduction of barriers to education and basic needs and the development of prosocial networks, positive mental health, and future oriented academic, career, and personal goals. Youth Collaborative operates two programs. Project X and Project X Intensive, both of which are designed to to provide outreach and 1:1 engagement with specialists to develop a success plan that aligns with participants' personal goals and needs. Family strengths and needs are also assessed when co-creating success plans with youth in order to ensure a well-informed and sustainable path to long term positive development.
